Old Yardleians RFC: Club News

Coventry was cold and miserable but a win was needed and we deserved it.

It is never easy to win in Coventry.

Having spent two seasons at one of the stylish clubs in the city, I remember the special welcome that was saved for teams making the journey from Birmingham or Solihull. I thought that over the years things might have changed but it did not feel that way to me.

A good pitch was very much to our liking but the Dunlop side looked as if they worked on their limited crash ball game but if you get the chance to look at Adam,s match report you will get a clearer picture of how we were faster and fitter than the hosts, in fact, our scrum  half had the vision and speed to leave the opposition standing. The win by 36 - 14 was crucial in both league points and team spirit. I must mention our supporters, single figures in number, who made the journey. Well done fellas.

Knowledge, a good memory and a slice of luck.

This Friday offers you forwards the chance to shatter the myth that you are academically slightly behind the handsome chaps in the backs.

Yes, Friday is quiz night at the club. Doors open at 7.00 and the contest begins at 7.30.
Teams must contain a maximum of six players and the entry fee of  Eight pounds includes a Fish and chip supper. The bar will be open throughout for the purchase of alcoholic or soft drinks at very reasonable prices
The quiz is open to non members and proceeds go to two charities, Cancer research and Parkinsons UK.
Give it a go. For further details contact Dave Adams.
