Information about the 90th Anniversary Dinner and Dance

We can now confirm that the 90th Anniversary Dinner and Dance event has been booked for Saturday 23rd September 2017.

  • The Venue is: The Village Inn Hotel, The Green Business Park, Stratford Road, Shirley, Solihull, B90 4JG. Phone: 0121 796 9670
  • Start time is around 6.30pm for a 7pm till midnight blast.
  • We have hired a private function room with an adjoining private bar area.
  • We will have an MC – DJ who will provide the music and entertainment.
  • The cost of £40 per person will include a three course dinner followed by cheese and biscuits and coffee/teas – it is a set meal and the fixed menu is yet to be decided but there will be a vegetarian option so you may wish to let us know if this is a requirement in due course.
  • We are aiming to provide three bottles of wine per table included in the price, probably a red, a white and a prosecco.Extra wine can be purchased from the bar at your own cost. The bar costs are quite reasonable for a hotel around £4.00 (ish) per pint, but additional bottles of wine will be around the £18 mark.
  • We are looking at an attendance of 120+ people, seated at large circular dining tables with 10/12 people per table – if attendees want to sit in particular groups please make this known to us when you buy your tickets.
  • The event is just under six months away, however you may wish to take advantage of a reduced hotel room cost by booking rooms early.
  • Currently the average price for a room on Saturday evenings is approx £99 plus breakfast – with use of our promo code (see below) you can get a standard double or twin room for £81.60 including breakfast or £66.60 without.
  • It will be much easier if you book your own rooms, be aware that the above prices are on a non-refundable basis, so you may wish to make your own choices.
  • The hotel has a fabulous gym and swimming pool area which you can make use of. A large free car park is also available.

  • We are happy to collect ticket monies now if you wish to pay early, if not we will need payment by early August.
  • To reserve one or more places at the dinner dance you need to proceed as follows;
    • Tell me (Pat McDaid, Shannon's wife) how many tickets you want at £40 per ticket by phoning me on 07531 660400 or by sending me an email to pat.mcdaid at blueyonder.co.uk to inform me which of the following payments methods you are going to use;
    • a) By posting a cheque for the total ticket amount made out to 'Old Yardleians RFC Tour Fund' (we want to keep the payments separate from the club's main current account to aid traceability). The address to send the cheques to is 112 Fabian Crescent, Shirley, Solihull, B90 2AD
