THE SUMMER FAYRE, ANOTHER SUCCESS STORY

Sat, 11 Jul 2015 12:00

Jo Hayes and her team do the business

A big 'Thank You' to Jo and her many helpers, young and old, boys and girls for making our summer fayre so successful. No matter how well preparations have been, those responsible for the smooth running of the event still have panic attacks, sleepless nights and all the other worries.

The weather was perfect, the stalls were ready, the quality of the food  might even cause Glynn P. to worry. Will Pricey get any Michelin stars is the gossip of the club. The liquid refreshment sales were also very impressive. There was something for everyone to enjoy and I was lucky enough to have a quick chat with the Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Mrs Glenis Slater, She was very impressed by our club and the effort that has gone into making it much more than just a rugby club with a bar. She was informed as to how the Old Yardleians had become a 'multi-sports' club with many functions for the local and wider community. What we did not realise was just how much work the Mayor has to do. she informed us that she was attending a cycling club event at 7.30 tomorrow (Sunday) morning. Our club President wondered whether he should bring his racing bike, mountain bike or his chopper, but he then made the excuse that his tyres were flat and that he would give it a miss.

A massive 'Thank You' from the club goes out to Jo and her team of helpers, too many, to mention individually.  It goes without saying that this will become an annual event so get thinking Jo !
