8th March - Another crucial victory

From the Solihull Observer.
RUGBY UNION:
Old Yardleians travelled to near neighbours Kings Norton on Saturday in their latest Midlands 3 West (South) fixture and returned home with a hard earned 28-19 bonus point victory. Despite a dream start by Yards, scoring in the opening couple of minutes through fleet footed fullback Sean Rai, Yards were then frustrated for large parts of the game by Kings Norton’s spoiling tactics and slightly larger pack. But despite Yards gifting the home side a couple of scores during the course of the game they were ultimately well worth the full five points. Yards’ remaining tries were scored by hooker Adam Baldock on the end of another trademark driving maul, centre Tom Waters and scrum half Tom Grocott with fly half Jake White hitting two penalties and a conversion. With top placed Pinley failing to secure a bonus point in their win against Cheltenham North this latest win moves Yards to within two points of the Coventry Side but with two games in hand and with just four games remaining.
