WOLVES WIN 15 A SIDE COMPETITION

Tue, 23 Aug 2011 12:13

The rugby season got under way with the annual Moss Goode 15 a side Tournament held at Tilehouse Lane.

A good deal of toil, glimpses of skill and a competitive spirit are what was seen and what was expected.

This popular event enables the club coaches to assess the progress made by their players in pre-season training with time remaining for fine tuning if and where required.

In the opening game Wolverhampton defeated the home club by the only try of the match and remained unbeaten on their way to the final where they met and overcame Droitwich by a score of 15 – 5 and in doing so received the Moss Goode trophy.
The plate competition was won by visitors from Leicestershire, Ashby.

Yards skipper Anthony Thompson suggests that he didn’t want his side to peak too early with league matches still a couple of weeks away but he is determined to produce an improvement in this Saturday’s friendly at home to newly promoted Harborne, kick off 3.00.
