Old Yardleians RFC: Club News

The real work is done off the pitch

Sat, 25 Jun 2011 04:06

Although the playing season is still a log way off there is still much to be done behind the scenes.  A glance in the 'photos' section of this site, (if Shannon has done his stuff) tells its own story as Sid, Pricey, Brian, Tom and guest strimmer operative, Snake, put in the effort needed to ensure that the clubhouse and drive are still visble to all of us except for the very vertically challenged.

It was good to see Darren the 'snake' and impressive that he travelled from Canada just to clear our drive.  Nice one Daz!

A real bonus for the club was the decision of Gary (Bobo) Robinson to continue as club coach.  Highly respected by our players, Gary wishes to inform you that training starts on Tuesday (28th june) at 7 pm and on saturdays from 2nd july at 2.30 pm.  Please show your respect by arriving in good time for these sessions.

A reminder for all of you involved in mini/junior rugby at the club.  You must ensure that you are CRB checked.  It won't cost you. For details contact Pat (via Shannon if you wish)

Finally, you should have received a letter from the newly elected First team captain, Tommo.  It was a tough decision not to nominate Anthony for the Nobel prize for literature but we know exactly what the message is.  Every one of us, players and supporters must do our very best to back him up with the real commitment needed to drive us on to the promotion that we are surely good enough to achieve.

Our weekly message from she who understands rugby as much as I understand ironing.  Why are the players you see on television so fit looking but those at thee Old Ys and most teams you play are so grim?
