Our first match of the season (away to Woodrush) on Halloween did NOT prove to be a Nightmare on Icknield Street! We fielded a team of 9 players and enjoyed our first run out of the season. The 2 new boys (Toby & Jamie) equipped themselves admirably for their first game and the rest of the squad played some great rugby. The first game saw OYs on top at 10-7. Try scorers Ollie (2), Josh T (2), Josh H (2), Ellis (1), Toby (2), Dan (1). What was most enocuraging was the tackling. The boys managed to get 6 tags and therefore turnover ball. Dan G was deemed the best tackler.
Our second match against Woodrush was a closer affair and we ran out winners again 6-5. Try scorers Ollie (2), Charlie, Samuel, Josh H, Dan. We didn't have any subs and so our legs were tired by the end and we started to lose concentration. The boys were well organised and again secured a 6 tag series of tackles and won the ball back.
WELL DONE BOYS. A great start to the season. Let's keep the winning ways going. NEXT SUNDAY IS A FUNDAY AT OLD YARDS to increase the minis and juniors sqaud size. If you know anyone tell them to come along. After all they might enjoy it!
