Old Yardleians RFC: Club News

OYRFC u9s v Woodrush u10s

Sun, 15 Nov 2009 12:00

It was another big test for Old Yards against a well organised Woodrush under 10s team. Early on the defences were on top with excellent tackling and recycling from both teams. Tries were hard earned for both teams with a man of the match performance from Joe scoring three excellent tries using his pace and Jack scoring a great try running down the blind side with the Woodrush defence committed to the ruck. Old Yards were much better at the breakdown this week keeping much more possession and there were some first class off loads in the tackle that helped open up the Woodrush defence. Special mention must also go to Alex, Ben, Dan and Hayden who showed fearless tackling against much bigger players. Well done boys - your commitment to the tackle was fantastic. A big thank you to Oli, Oli, Harry and Dan who sportingly volunteered to play for Woodrush to even up the numbers. Thank you boys - it is never easy playing for the opposition against your team mates and you all handled yourselves extremely well. It is Old Sils away next week. Can you be at Old Sils and ready to start training at 10.30am sharp for 30 mins warm up, stretch and practice before the game at 11.00am. Well done once again boys - you were fantastic yesterday!
