The Portugal Tour
During the season we had
thirty three wins and Tom Power scored 262 points to beat his own club record
of 242.
The finale to this excellent
season was a week long tour to Cascais near Lisbon. It was a holiday as well
as a tour. Peter The Fridge Butler was startled to find a large quantity of
small black crabs, which could be purchased at the local market, in his hotel
bed. He thought they were scorpions and slept in the lift. Charlie Jenkins,
obviously an animal lover, transferred most of the little chaps to the hotel
swimming pool.
A Portugal Tour Souvenir
programme was produced by Colin Thompson and Bob Tynan. Advertising revenue
allowed the production to be of high quality with many photographs and a
mixture of fact and fiction.
One tragic event in this
momentous year was the accidental death of the popular centre three-quarter
Paul Embo Hemmings whilst working for Voluntary Services Overseas in
Dominica.
