Ladies Committee

In 1979 a Ladies Committee comprising Joy Black, Gwen Parkins and Anne Marie Wohlert  was formed.  Their main aims were to raise money over the bar by organising social events, to organise a Ladies Easter Tour and to reintroduce the informative In Touch newsletter.

They were very successful. Events included a pyjama party, a curry evening, a medieval banquet, an intergalactic disco, a sponsored walk and excellent food for bonfire night. In the August of 1979 an open-air Disco raised 114. The Ladies Tour was to Paris and In Touch appeared six times between September of 1979 and April 1980.

Kay Stone became the first female club member in June of 1980

Into the Eighties

After many years without a Colts XV, this season saw a revival of interest due to the efforts of Hadyn Samuel and Dave Hall. Dave and Tony Meades were representatives on the North Midlands and Greater Birmingham Colts Committees respectively.

Bert Black was Chairman of Selectors for COBs and Colin Humphreys joined the main Greater Birmingham Committee.

Delayed by a lack of funds an essential drainage system of a herring-bone pattern of land drains under the two pitches was finally installed at a cost of 2,500.

At the Annual Dinner in May 1980, Richard Walker and Colin Thompson were made Life Members.
