The First Dinner
The first dinner arranged by the
club was an informal affair held at the Billesley Hotel on the 5th of May 1934.
The President presided and the guests were Mr.B.J.Worsley Spittle and Stanley
Baker, the President and Secretary of the North Midlands RFU and Mr.H.E.Marwick.
The clubs first bank account
was opened at Lloyds Bank in Kings Heath in the summer of 1934 as the day-to-day
running of the club assumed a regular pattern. The now Annual Dinner was a
must, dances and coach parties a matter of routine.
The First XV continued to
prosper and the lower sides, which now included a Fourth XV, had good results
despite being plagued by injuries. The clubs first county cap, Bill Crinian,
played for North Midlands against Leicestershire, Notts.Lincs. and Derby,
Warwickshire and East Midlands twice. North Midlands won three of the five
matches. Bill scored six times including a hat-trick on his debut.
